Dr. William Procter began his private practice in 1964. One year later Dr. Robert Gaddy joined him in practice. In 1970, Dr. Frank Johnston partnered with them. At this time the practice was listed in their names.

In 1971 the name was changed to Boylan Internal Medicine Associates, P.A., It was located on Boylan Avenue near the downtown area of Raleigh. Boylan was also the maiden name of Dr. Gaddy's wife. In 1979 the practice was moved to its current location on Browning Place.

The practice continued to grow to six physicians and in 1995 was bought by REX Healthcare. The office was renovated and expanded in 1996. Two more physicians and one mid-level provider were added by 1999 to help see the increasing number of patients. Boylan Internal Medicine, a division of REX Healthcare, employed thirty staff members to support the nine providers.

In January 2002, the physicians resumed ownership of the practice, renaming it Boylan Medical Associates, PLLC. In April 2003 Dr. Gaddy retired.

Today Boylan Medical Associates, PLLC is a thriving practice with seven board certified physicians. The practice employs over thirty five staff members and offers an impressive array of on-site services to its patients.
